Scholarship Scheme Winner : Esther Campbell

We got back in touch with 2021’s Paddy Gerrard Memorial Scholarship Scheme winners to see how they’re getting on since winning.

Esther Campbell started Drama and Film studies in September of this year and was delighted when she received the call that she was chosen by MFCU as one of our Scholarship Scheme winners. She was incredibly honest with her answers and we thank her for sharing her story with our members.

What has been your favourite part of the course so far?

The year has been a bit challenging as I was diagnosed with Dyslexia and processing issues during my first term however despite the academic difficulties the course has been great. Definitely my favourite part has been meeting new people and making friends. I was also able to take part in a few musical performances which was a lot of fun too.

What are you looking forward to most about the year ahead in college?

I’m looking forward to seeing friends again after the Christmas break. I’m also looking forward to hopefully being more on top of my studies with the help of my university. Thanks to my formal diagnosis I can get some supports to help me through the year.

How has the MFCU Scholarship Scheme helped you with your studies this year?

The MFCU Scholarship has been a big help, it meant that I didn’t have to worry as much about how I was going to afford fees and I even had some money left over to raise for braces and for next years college expenses. Thank you so much again for that as it certainly lifted a financial weight off of my family’s back!

What would you say to other students that are considering applying for next year’s MFCU Scholarship Scheme?

I would say ‘Go for it!’ it’s a big help and it opens doors for other opportunities because you’re saving money.

As part of our Scholarship Scheme, applicants must be registered MFCU members for at least three months. Therefore we recommend that students join us at the beginning of the year.  You can join us completely online through the link below:
