Scholarship Scheme Winner : Aisling Barnwall

We got back in touch with 2021’s Paddy Gerrard Memorial Scholarship Scheme winners to see how they’re getting on since winning.

Aisling Barnwall was starting her second year of a Professional Masters of Education when she received the call that she was chosen by MFCU as one of our Scholarship Scheme winners. We asked her a few questions to see how she has been getting on and here’s what she said:

What has been your favourite part of the course so far?

My favourite part of my course has been my teaching placement. I got to spend time in a secondary school working with students from 1st year to 5th year. We worked together with clay, drawings, 3D work and visual studies. It was great to get to see students develop and evolve through the placement. I look forward to being finished the course and being able to teach full time.

What are you looking forward to most about the year ahead in college?

I am most looking forward to my next block of teaching placement which will take place in a couple of weeks. I will get to work with the same students and work on new projects with them

How has the MFCU Scholarship Scheme helped you with your studies this year?

It has been amazing, it has meant that I could reduce my hours working part time so then I had more time to focus on my studies.

What would you say to other students that are considering applying for next year’s MFCU Scholarship Scheme?

I would encourage anyone who is thinking of applying to apply. It is very worth while and makes a huge difference to being able to continue and focus on your studies!
