Purple House Cancer Support

Purple House Cancer Support have teamed up with Member First Credit Union and Clontarf Cycling Club to tackle the 4 Peaks Challenge, in a bid to raise money for families affected by cancer in Ireland.

The challenge took place over 7 days, with cyclists travelling over 1,200km. As if that wasn’t enough, they also hiked up each of Ireland’s 4 provinces highest peaks – Leinster’s Lugnaquilla, Carrauntoohil in Munster, Mweelrea in Connacht and Ulster’s Slieve Donard.

This mammoth challenge allowed Purple House to raise awareness and funds for the great work they are doing in supporting families across Ireland whose lives have been affected by cancer. This support includes transport to hospitals and appointments, emotional support, counselling, bereavement counselling, support groups, classes, workshops for children and complimentary therapies.

Member First Credit Union’s sponsorship of the event came about through a long-standing partnership with Clontarf Cycling Club. The Club’s strong training regime has allowed a number of their members to undertake this incredible challenge for a worthy cause.

Cathal Miller, Paralympian and Chairman of Clontarf Cycling Club thanked Member First for their support.

“Member First Credit Union have sponsored us a substantial amount of money, which is great.

They have been very helpful.”

The challenge came to a close last Friday, when the cyclists were given a Garda Escort for the final leg of the journey, from Member First’s Artane Branch to the Purple House HQ in Bray, Co. Wicklow. Congratulations to everyone involved both on the bike and in the background.

Donations currently stand at €17,430. Donations can be made at this iDonate link.
