MFCU Supports Clontarf FC’s Junior Referees Program

As the Republic of Ireland continues its journey in the ongoing FIFA European Qualifiers, the importance of nurturing talent at the grassroots level becomes even clearer. That is why we are proud to support Clontarf FC’s Junior Referees Program, an initiative that empowers teenagers to step into refereeing roles while addressing the shortage of referees in youth football.

This summer, 17 young players from Clontarf FC, aged 16 to 18, completed their FAI beginner referee course. Last weekend, they officiated their first U10 and U11 matches at St. Anne’s Park. It was an exciting start to what we hope will be long and rewarding journeys in football officiating.

MFCU Support Clontarf’s Junior Referees Program 

From the start, Clontarf FC welcomed our involvement. Our support through the MFCU Community Fund ensured that each referee received a full kit and all the equipment needed to start with confidence. For Member First Credit Union, supporting this programme is about more than providing gear. It reflects our values of respect, responsibility, and opportunity while actively supporting community initiatives.

Member First Credit Union immediately recognised the potential of the programme. MFCU’s Digital Marketing Manager, Conor Ralph, highlighted how the initiative benefits not only the club but also the wider football community. He emphasised that it gives teenagers the chance to grow, lead, and contribute in meaningful ways. Supporting community initiatives like this is at the heart of what we do. 

Growing Leaders on and off the Pitch 

We would like to thank Clontarf FC and the Referees Department at the FAI for making this programme possible. A special shoutout goes to the 17 young referees who are now part of something truly special. We look forward to seeing them grow in their roles and continue making a positive impact on and off the pitch.
